These anti-NRA cartoons are the laziest thing we’ve seen online this week

It’s only Monday, and the following were actually released last Friday, but we’re willing to bet you’ll be hard pressed to find something as singularly lazy and vicious as these lame-brained anti-NRA political cartoons.

First up is a cartoon from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s ever-subtle Mike Luckovich:

Get it? The NRA represents some thousands of legal and lawful gun owners across the U.S., so they’re, um, worse than al Qaeda and the Islamic State. Yes, the NRA is worse than two terrorist groups that have made their mark by marauding through the Middle East, killing, torturing, raping, and pillaging as they please, beheading and setting people on fire for the cameras.

A very fine and well-reasoned position!

Next up is from the Washington Post’s Ann Telnaes, who you may remember better as the woman who depicted the daughters of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, as dancing chimps:

See, now this one is fun.

Both anti-NRA cartoons came out in response to a mass shooting at a Baptist church in Texas that saw the deaths of 26 churchgoers, including an unborn child.

In response to the wanton slaughter, many lawmakers responded by saying they were praying for the victims and their families. Not good enough, proclaimed a significant number of media pundits and critics. Thoughts and prayers are nothing but an evasion!

Yes, yes, the people who were murdered were Christians and they believed in the power of prayer. But enough of that superstitious nonsense! Who knows? Maybe they even had it coming, since they were in a church thinking and praying when it happened, instead of out there doing something to promote left-wing political ideas.

Or some such nonsense. You’re doing us all a world of wonder with this biting and nuanced commentary. Thanks.
