The Daily Outrage: Nantucket red pants to go with that red wine

WHO: The U.S. Department of Agriculture WHAT: Gave $75,000 to the local Connecticut wine industry. The funds were part of a $445,000 Specialty Crop Block Grant used to bolster the market for specialty crops.

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: The $75,000 grant made possible through taxpayers’ contributions will fund a two-year marketing campaign to increase consumer awareness about the Connecticut wine industry and local wines. But if U.S. citizens wanted to learn about Connecticut wines, they could go wine tasting there.

WHERE TO VENT: USDA inspector general, 202-720-8001.
