Democrats and their allies in the press never really abandoned their Russian conspiracy-mongering. They merely set it aside momentarily to pursue other interests.
White House officials allegedly briefed President Trump recently on a “Russian military intelligence unit secretly offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants for killing coalition forces in Afghanistan — including targeting American troops,” according to the New York Times. The scandal is not so much the reported Russian scheme but that the president apparently did nothing about it even after he was briefed on the matter.
