AP calls a Haley-Barrett runoff

Nikki Haley has fallen just short of the 50 percent she needed to avoid a runoff in South Carolina’s Republican primary, according to the Associated Press. This is thanks almost entirely to the popularity of her second-place opponent, Rep. Gresham Barrett, R, within his own Congressional District.

The runoff will be June 22.

Meanwhile, Rep. Bob Inglis, R-S.C., finished a weak second in his race, and is headed toward a runoff he is unlikely to win.
