After emailing supporters 10 times in December asking for a three dollar donation in exchange for a chance to win dinner with the President, the Obama re-election campaign has now cut the price to only a buck.
Here is the text of the “personal” invitation from the president
I’m hoping you’ll take me up on the invitation.
Donate $1 or whatever you can today to be automatically entered for the chance to be my first dinner guest.
These meals are one simple thing that sets this campaign apart. The seats at our table don’t belong to any Washington lobbyist or powerful interest.
These seats are yours. Donate $1 or more today and be automatically entered to win:
Hope to see you,
Barack
In spite of their trivial nature, President Obama needs these donations so he can brag about the number of small donors backing his campaign.
In January, the Obama campaign announced that 98 percent of January donations were $250 or less. But the people powered message fades after raising up to $8 million in three days in a series of exclusive fundraisers on the West Coast.
According to the Associated Press, the campaign’s FEC filings show that only $5 million of the total of $29 million raised in January were from un-itemized donors less than $250.
