STRASBOURG NATO: Hello, Sarko!

Yes, we are definitely in France.

Sarkozy — he never disappoints, does he? President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama left London this morning and headed to Strasbourg, France for a NATO conference. Obama, still in the throes of a punishing head cold, did an arrival ceremony and a press avail with Sarkozy, and soon will hold a town hall at a local sports arena, before a series of NATO meetings where his focus will be Afghanistan.

Now I want to kees you.

Arrival at the Palais Rohan was a mob scene of pushing, shoving photographers and people wanting a glimpse of Obama and the first lady.

Pass the hand sanitizer: Obama, so infectious!

Sarkozy and former President Bush had a certain chemistry, and it will be intriguing to see how he gets along with Obama. When the president calls him “Nicolas,” it sounds a little awkward. But maybe that’s just the congestion talking. Poor Obama! Travel with a head cold is awful.

Hey, ladies! Tres chic! But will the French be as kind to Michelle as the Brits?

To Beltway Confidential’s overtired eyes, the American first lady’s arrival outfit looks a little bit trying too hard — although it’s lovely and that raspberry shade is beautiful on her. But next to the fabulous Carla Bruni (hallo!)  in the understated shirtdress, Michelle Obama looks a little….dressed up. Whatevs — it’s not up to us. And our own travel wardrobe would hardly past muster anywhere.

Sarko and the Americains!
