Lugar-challenger Mourdock endorsed by Mark Levin

During his show yesterday, talk-radio host Mark Levin endorsed State Treasurer Richard Mourdock, R-Ind., in his primary against incumbent Republican Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind. Levin said that Lugar “doesn’t even pretend to be conservative.” Mourdock, by contrast, appeals to Levin as someone who is “principled and . . . willing to fight.”

The Mourdock campaign released a statement on the endorsement this morning:

“I am encouraged by the increased momentum and strength our campaign is gaining on a daily basis,”explained Treasurer Mourdock. “Hoosiers are ready for a change in the United States Senate from our great state.”

Levin’s endorsement is the latest of a growing list of conservative leaders and organizations in support of Mourdock’s candidacy: Steve Forbes, Dick Morris, Erick Erickson, Citizens United, Gun Owners of America, The National Republican Trust PAC and Minuteman PAC.

Recently, the Club for Growth released a poll showing Mourdock leading Senator Dick Lugar 34% to 32%.
