The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart has noticed that things are not exactly running smoothly in the state where President Obama will officially accept the Democratic Party’s 2012 presidential nomination. Democrats are set to hold their national convention in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina this September but, as Stewart notes, the executive director of the North Carolina Democratic Party will not be joining them.
After running news clips reporting that North Carolina Democratic Party executive director Jay Parmley has resigned after accusations that he sexually harassed a male staffer, Stewart quips: “Look on the bright side no love child.”
Stewart then plays clips of still North Carolina Democratic Party chairman David Parker explaining why he didn’t fire Parmley, including the excuse that Parmley was “just a close talker.” “What is this, a Seinfeld defense?” Stewart mocked.
“Congratulations North Carolina, you have become the Democrats South Carolina,” Stewart finished.
