Harry Reid needs to explain his wealth

When not making baseless charges about Mitt Romney’s personal finances, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid spends his time handing sweetheart deals to companies and investors that employ his sons and give him illegally large campaign contributions.

These facts may be related to how he is filthy rich, worth millions, and living in the Ritz Carlton. Betsy Woodruff this week at NRO asks the question more of the media should be digging into: How Did Harry Reid Get Rich?

Imagine that someone grows up in poverty, works his way through law school by holding the night shift as a Capitol Hill policeman, and spends all but two years of his career as a public servant. Now imagine that this person’s current salary — and he’s at the top of his game — is $193,400. You probably wouldn’t expect him to have millions in stocks, bonds, and real estate.
But, surprise, he does, if he’s our Senate majority leader, whose net worth is between 3 and 10 million dollars, according to OpenSecrets.org

Woodruff pokes around some of Reid’s self-dealings. Reid should explain all of them.
