RNC launches Ottack 2012

As Mitt Romney closes in on the Republican nomination, the Republican National Committee is stepping up their efforts to inoculate the eventual nominee from the coming onslaught of negative attacks from President Obama.

This morning the RNC launched a new website, Ottack2012, that will be devoted to chronicling what even neutral observers predict will be a historically negative reelection campaign run by Obama. The new website includes this quote from The Washington Post’s Ruth Marcus:

Forget hope and change. President Obama’s reelection campaign is going to be based on fear and loathing: fear of what a Republican takeover would mean, and loathing of whomever the Republican nominee turns out to be. Of course the Obama campaign will attempt to present the affirmative case for his reelection, citing legislative achievements, foreign policy successes and the current flurry of executive actions. But his strategists have clearly concluded that selling the president will not be enough, and the contours of the ugly months ahead are becoming increasingly apparent.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus adds: “President Obama doesn’t have a record to run on so he will tear his Republican opponent down at every opportunity to try to cover up his failed leadership on jobs. But, the American people will see through this typical politician’s attacks for what they are—desperate acts to protect his own job.”
