Remember when Democrats used to filibuster? Democrat leaders once hailed the filibuster as a sacred constitutional right of the Senate to check presidential power. Back in 2005, Democrats considered the 51-vote nuclear option an arrogant power grab when Republicans threatened to use it to push through judicial nominations.
Of course now Democrats are threatening to use reconciliation, a similar exception to the Senate rules that will allow them to pass health care with a simple Senate majority instead of the 60 vote hurdle.
