If Dems actually believed in PAYGO, they’d be saluting Jim Bunning right now

Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., is a cranky lawmaker on the verge of retirement. He believes that Washington politics is B.S., and has believed this for many years. Today, he offered the single-digit salute to journalists asking why he is single-handedly holding up an extension of unemployment benefits.

Having said that, Bunning should be hailed as a hero. He has insisted that the Senate come up with $10 billion to pay for the extension, which his colleagues have so far failed to do. The ferocity with which Democrats are now ripping him  is rather amusing, when you consider the moralistic tone they took while advocating the Pay-As-You-Go, or PAYGO, statute that they passed this year, which was supposed to bring fiscal responsibility back to Washington.
