Manchin says he backs spending cap

Published

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., has come out in favor of capping spending in exchange for his vote to raise the debt limit, the Hill reports.

With his endorsement, Manchin joins with fellow Democrat Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., who earlier this year co-sponsored a bill with Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn.,  that would cap spending at 20.6 percent of GDP after 10 years.
