A rather subdued statement from David Cameron after he is notified that he has been elected at Witney. Paraphrase: Whatever happens tonight, whatever the future may hold, I will always work hard on your issues. Nationally, we have to wait for the full results have come out. The Lab government has lost its mandate to govern the country. We have been gaining as many seats as we have in 80 years (that is, the Conservatives look likely to gain 100 seats). Postive campaign we should be proud of. Our country wants change. Our country needs new leadership. What will guide me in the hours ahead will be the national interest, we do live in difficult times, but this is a great country and we will come out stronger. Not exactly a declaration of victory.
