The Republican corporate welfare caucus

There is a growing battle between the pro-free market/Tea Party wing of the Republican Party and the pro-big business/corporate welfare faction. Yesterday, the Senate voted on amendment to the highway transportation bill that incorporated Sen. Jim DeMint’s Energy Freedom and Prosperity Act, a bill that would eliminate all energy specific tax credits. It failed 26 to 72. Below are the Senate Republicans who joined all 53 Democrats to vote in favor of preserving corporate welfare in our tax code:

Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.

John Barrasso, R-Wyo.

John Boozman, R-Ark.

Scott Brown, R-Mass.

Thad Cochran, R-Miss.

Susan Collins, R-Maine

John Cornyn, R-Texas

Mike Enzi, R-Wyo.

Charles Grassley, R-Iowa

Dean Heller, R-Nev.

John Hoeven, R-N.D.

Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas

Johnny Isakson, R-Ga.

Richard Lugar, R-Ind.

Jerry Moran, R-Kan.

Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska

Pat Roberts, R-Kan.

Olympia Snowe, R-Maine

John Thune, R-S.D.
