Some years ago I visited the home of President John Tyler in Charles City County, Virginia, and was surprised to learn that it was owned by one of his grandsons–surprised, since President Tyler was born in 1790, the first full year of George Washington’s presidency, and died in 1862, while a member of the Confederate Congress. Well, Politico reports that the home is still owned and run by Harrison Tyler, at 84 the younger of the two Tyler grandsons who are still alive. He doesn’t think much of Newt Gingrich, by the way, and certainly doesn’t sound like an Obama voter.
