It’s beginning to look like curtains for Arlen Specter—behind 53%-47%, or 50,000 votes, with 79% of election districts reporting. Specter is carrying Philadelphia 64%-36% and, narrowly, Lackawanna County (Scranton) and Dauphin County (Harrisburg), but he’s losing the four suburban Philadelphia counties—Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery (Sestak’s congressional district includes most of Delaware County and parts of Chester and Montgomery). This suggests that Specter is not carrying, or not carrying by any large margin, heavily Jewish areas of Montgomery County: maybe the Obama endorsement didn’t count for much there.
