Scott Walker to headline Americans for Prosperity event in DC

The Wisconsin governor will speak at the group’s Defending the American Dream summit, a three day event beginning Aug. 2, giving the governor and the free market group that backed him a victory lap in DC. The group’s press release quotes Walker as saying:

This is a chance for Americans from every corner of the country to promote and defend the principle of limited government. I am honored to join so many courageous grassroots patriots who are concerned about America’s future and wish to defend what made her the greatest nation in human history.

Americans For Prosperity backed Walker throughout his efforts to reform state public employee unions, the subsequent protests and the gubernatorial recall bid. Critics of Walker used the group’s ties to the billionaire Koch brothers to tie Walker to them.

The August event, which is being put on by the Americans for Prosperity Foundation, AFP’s 501(c)3 branch, will also feature speeches by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., columnist Michelle Malkin, radio host Mark Levin, American Enterprise Institute President Arthur Brooks and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
