Global Warming: The Mockumentary

Not only is the Copenhagen global warming conference totally unsuccessful at bringing about any political agreement on the issue, today the conference so devolved into unintentional parody that I’m half-convinced that it’s the set for Christopher’s Guest’s latest mockumentary.

Speaking of Guest, in a scene straight out of This is Spinal Tap, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Al Gore were wandering around the building and got lost with camera crew in tow. The legally blind Brown then proceeded to lead Gore into a broom closet.

Today’s conference program includes the leading lights of democratic freedom — Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe and Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez.

And finally, Al Gore debuted a poem he had written about global warming. Try not to laugh when he intones: “Vapors rise as fever settles on an acid sea. Neptune’s bones dissolve.”
