It seems that the Egyptian Embassy here in D.C. has decided to ignore the little situation that seems to have sprung up with the hundreds of thousands of people demanding President Mubarak to step down. While Egyptian ambassador Sameh Shoukry has given an interview on ABC, they’ve essentially shut down all questions regarding the protests. The last time I tried to contact their press office, the secretary started laughing as soon as I mentioned that I was with the press and cut me off mid-sentence to say “he is not available for comment.”
Their embassy currently has no mention of the protesters on their webpage.
