The Russian president straps in to meet Obama. (ap)
Busy day today for President Obama in London. He meets with PM Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street followed by a joint presser, then it’s all about the bilats with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Chinese President Hu Jintao. The White House is setting a low bar for Obama’s first meeting with his Russian counterpart, using the squishiest language possible.
“The president desires a productive relationship with the Russians, that we can work together on issues of mutual interest, particularly issues around proliferation,” said White House press secretary Robert Gibbs. “I think they’ll have an opportunity to talk about that and other issues.”
Later on this evening (afternoon to you in the states), it’s off the Buckingham Palace!
Cheeky!
