Obama: not thinking about politics til next year

President Obama claimed that he’s not thinking about electoral politics until “sometime next year,” just moments before taking a shot at former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass., for opposing Obamacare after implementing the a state health insurance reform in Massachusetts that contains an individual mandate.

“Every opportunity that I see for us to be able to actually get something done, I will seize,” Obama said when CBS’s Steve Kroft asked if he had started “just trying to get your message out” instead of working with Republicans. “I’ll worry about the politics sometime next year,” Obama added.

Next year came fast, however, as Obama made Romney into a posterboy for the gridlock that the president blames on Republicans. “Just look at the ideas that we’ve been presenting, these are common sense, mainstream ideas that Republican presidents in the past have supported,” Obama said. “And that, by the way, includes a health care plan that a certain Republican governor in the past has supported.”
