Actor Kal Penn, the “Harold and Kumar” star who spoke at the Democratic National Convention, reinforced President Obama’s message that Americans are better off as a result of his leadership.
“Get ready to have your mind blown,” Penn wrote before telling supporters that Obama has made the nation better off during his presidency. “I have so many friends who are better off thanks to the work our president has done — some who’ve returned home from war, others who’ve been able to go to college, and one friend who got a job working in Detroit’s auto industry.”
Rather than fundraising, the Obama campaign used Penn as part of a get out the vote effort — another sign, perhaps, that they are increasing efforts to convince young voters who to get to the polls in support of Obama.
Concurrently, Mitt Romney’s campaign countered that message in an appeal to voters from the swing-state, Wisconsin.
“This president can ask us to be patient. This president can tell us it was someone else’s fault. But this president cannot tell us that you’re better off today than when he took office,” Romney says in the new TV ad, which attacks Obama over the $16 trillion national debt and predicts that Romney will “create over a 240,000 new jobs for Wisconsin.”
