Speaking to CNN’s Erin Burnett last night, David Axelrod said that he was “disappointed” that Romney didn’t stand up forcefully against Rush Limbaugh for his comments on Sandra Fluke.
When Burnett asked him to respond to liberal comedian Bill Maher for calling Sarah Palin a c-word and a bimbo, Axelrod would only say that Maer’s comments were “different.”

“Understand these words that Maher has used in his stand-up act are a little bit different than – not excusable in any way – but different than a guy with 23 million radio users using his broadcast platform to malign a young woman for speaking her mind in the most inappropriate, grotesque, ways, and nor does Bill Maher play the role in the Democratic party that Rush Limbaugh plays in the Republican party where he’s the de-facto boss of the party.” Axelrod said.
When asked about whether Obama’s Super PAC should give back the million dollar donation from Maher, Axelrod would only say, “I don’t speak for Priorities USA, if I did, I’d be violating the law.”
“I haven’t talked to anybody at that organization for probably a year or a more.” Axelrod continued, “I worked with Bill Burton in the past, but I haven’t talked to any of those guys. They’re going to have to make their own decision and I’m not going to comment on that.”
