Mitt Romney said “it doesn’t have to be this way” in response to the latest jobs report showing unemployment above eight percent, as he faulted President Obama for passing his health care law at the expense of the economy.
“It doesn’t have to be this way,” Romney told reporters in New Hampshire. “Forty-one months above eight percent [unemployment] pretty much defines lack of success,” he said, noting that the 20009 stimulus had not provided the promised benefits.

“There are gonna be factors that come and go that you can’t control, but the things that you can control you want to get right,” Romney said when asked if it was fair to blame Obama for the economy. “We’ve seen that Obamacare has made it less likely for small businesses to hire,” he said, in addition to criticizing Obama’s tax policy and saying that his admiistration’s regulations made banks less likely to loan money.
