The U.S. Senate shot down two budget proposals offered by Sens. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., on Wednesday as part of the flurry of budget related votes which were technically on motions to allow them to move forward to a formal vote.

Toomey’s budget fared better, garnering 42 votes to 55 votes against. Two Republicans voted who voted against Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget voted for Toomey’s — Paul and Rep. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska. The Toomey proposal balances the budget in 9 years, which is faster than Ryan’s, but it doesn’t address entitlement reform.
