What 1946 can tell us about 2010

The numbers on the generic ballot question—which party’s House candidate would you vote for?—look better for Republicans than at any time since Gallup started asking the question in 1950. That prompted me to take a look at the election of 1946, in which Republicans did better in House races than they have ever done since.
