Rep. Tim Scott, R-SC, told The Washington Examiner that the power of the National Labor Relations Board should be curtailed by Congress, but dismissed the idea that the board could be eliminated.
Scott does not believe the NLRB should “bring their complaints to adjudication” after December 31st, when the term of board member Craig Becker ends and the board will lack a quorum, but he indicated that calls by South Carolina lawmakers for the elimination of the board are impractical.
“Our ability to determine the elimination of the NLRB because they lack a quorum is wishful thinking,” Scott said, citing President Obama’s support as a firewall for the board.
Scott has sponsored the “Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act” to prevent the NLRB from forcing Boeing Co. to close a South Carolina factory.
