No he doesn’t. That is because right now in Texas, the Confederate Heritage plate (displayed) has not been approved yet. That’s the question surrounding Texas governor Rick Perry and the Texas DMV board.
Recent news swirling around Perry’s “confederate plate” problem stems from this Reuters article.
When a new licence plate is proposed in Texas, the board puts up a sample image on their website and ask for public comment. Afterwards, the board votes to approve or deny the proposed plate.
The last time the DMV board voted on the confederate plate, it was a tie, because one member was missing, and since then, one of the members has died.
Now liberal activists in Texas have pinned the issue squarely on Perry, as he is responsible for appointing a new board member which would also break the tie.
When the plate was put up for comment on the DMV’s website in March, comments were overwhelmingly positive: 186 in favor, 3 against.
