Key Repub says House should formally repeal CLASS

After hearing testimony from Department of Health and Human Services officials, a key Republican is calling for the House to pass a bill to repeal the Obamacare’s suspended long-term care program within the next several weeks.

“The program is, for all intents and purposes, over,” Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., chairman of the oversight panel of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said after a hearing on the CLASS program feauturing two HHS officials. “We should have legislation to confirm what they told us today, to make sure there’s no ifs or buts that this could have a Phoenix arising under the Democrats’ wishes.”

Stearns said he expects the committee to formally ask House GOP leadership to pass repeal legislation within the next several weeks.

He noted that Rep. Charles Boustany, R-La., had already introduced a repeal bill, so all leadership would need to do would be to bring it to the floor.
