Dem Rep: Fast & Furious is a ‘witch hunt’

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., questioned the political partisanship of House investigators looking into Operation Fast and Furious, which he described as part of a “five year” gun-walking operation dating back to the Bush Administration.

“[The House investigation] looks more like an election year witch hunt than an even-handed investigation,” Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said to the committee chair, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., during his opening statement.

To bolster his point, Cummings criticized Issa’s focus on Attorney General Eric Holder, rather than other officials. “You never once called the former head of the atf to testify during a hearing,” Cummings said to Issa. “You refuse to even interview former Attorney General Mukasey,” he also said.
