President Obama concluded his weekly address, in which he lambasted Republicans for opposing his latest stimulus effort and his nomination of a regulatory director, with an odd invocation of the Christmas spirit, as he called for Americans to tell his opponents not to act like the Grinch who stole Christmas.
“Tell your Members of Congress, don’t be a Grinch,” Obama said on Saturday, after detailing Republican opposition to his payroll tax cut and millionaire surcharge tax.
He also said “I refuse to take “no” for an answer” when commenting on Republican opposition to Richard Cordray, Obama’s nominee to lead a Consumer Financial Protection Board created under Dodd-Frank financial regulations bill.
