Obama returns from vacation, for more vacation

Welcome back! See ya.  (ap)

A quick note from the White House:

The President will continue his vacation through the end of the week. Media will be informed if any public events are added to the schedule.

Last week the White House said President Obama was coming back to DC on Sunday, with no events until Tuesday, when there would be “some events” before he heads to Camp David on Wednesday. He’s back at the White House — but he’s taking some more time.

This guy at the Baltimore Sun doesn’t care for it. Unemployment! Symbolism is everything! Whatever, man. Will one or two more speeches about how if you like your health care, you get to keep it really change the dynamic this week? In order to be really effective, maybe Obama needs to really go away. Not just change locations to deliver a major eulogy, appear with Ben Bernanke and ride a bike through the dunes without a helmet.

The White House still managed to sound a little defensive.

“When you’re president, you’ve always got that job.”
