Nobel Watch: Gibbs makes the call, again

Just call him angel of the morning. (reuters)

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs woke President Obama up this morning to tell him he’d won the Nobel Peace Prize. Not a bad gig — but it was also Gibbs back in April who woke up Obama in Prague to tell him North Korea had launched some nukes. That is usually a job for, say, the national security adviser. But it once again underscores the uncommonly close relationship between Gibbs and Obama.

From today’s briefing:

MR. GIBBS:  Well, the Situation Room sends out news updates on — throughout — we got e-mails at 3:00 in the morning from those guys on activities throughout the world.  And about 6 a.m. I called the president to tell him that he’d won, and I think it’s safe to say he  was very surprised.

Q: You’ve done this before.  Are you the designated waker?

MR. GIBBS:  I don’t think anybody wants the job.

Gibbs said Obama was unaware that he had been nominated. Next up: Publishers Clearinghouse

      Wake up, sleepyhead!
