Greer resigned amid an uproar over a secret contract he entered into with Delmar Johnson, former executive director of the Republican Party of Florida. The contract paid Johnson a commission on fund-raising for the state party and brought his total compensation to more than $400,000.
The audit of party finances released today said it couldn’t issue a definitive opinion on the RPOF books because there wasn’t documentation for some cash disbursements.
“On February 1, 2009, the Party entered into a fundraising service agreement with a related limited liability corporation whose members shares are 60% owned by the former chairman and 40% owned by the former executive director of the party,” said the audit by Tallahassee accounting firm Thomson Bock Luger & Co.
The audit said the contact called for 10 percent commissions on major donations to the party, a deal that resulted in $133,005 paid to the Greer-owned company. RPOF also paid $66,250 to Victory Strategies for

Greer was Gov. Charlie Crist’s hand-picked chairman. Crist, who is running for Senate, has been playing just one winning card in the primary election — namely, allegations that his opponent, Marco Rubio (R) misused a party credit card for what seems a trifling sum in comparison. So this obviously complicates things.
