The Democratic Party is going to let China get away with causing a global pandemic

The first night of the Democratic National Convention focused heavily on the coronavirus and the effects it has had on people across the country, but there was one massive omission: China.

The coronavirus has killed more than 150,000 people in the United States directly, killed more through suicides and drug overdoses, and tanked the economy while throwing millions of people out of work — and the blame should primarily be placed at the feet of China. It was the Chinese Communist Party that started the global pandemic, covering up the severity of the virus while Chinese residents traveled and spread the virus to every corner of the globe.

The CCP still has not produced truthful data on how many people the virus killed in China, and the propaganda it fed the world through the World Health Organization led to nations putting their guard down on the virus. China sold faulty medical equipment to countries in need and silenced whistleblowers, all while trying to blame the U.S. military for causing the outbreak.

You wouldn’t know this from watching the Democratic National Convention, though. The Democratic Party devoted one segment of the convention to a woman grotesquely blaming President Trump for killing her father with the virus as she metaphorically heaped her father’s corpse on the stage in a “Biden 2020” T-shirt.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who forced nursing homes to accept infected patients and presided over the highest total state death toll in the country, looked to absolve China completely of the pandemic. “The European virus infected the Northeast while the White House was still fixated on China,” Cuomo said.

Yes, he called it the “European” virus. Really.

Joe Biden has his own blind spots on China, and Michael Bloomberg, who has claimed that Chinese dictator Xi Jinping is not a dictator, is also gearing up to speak at the convention. Meanwhile, China has used the chaos it caused by unleashing a pandemic on the world to subjugate the people of Hong Kong.

In its singular focus on winning in November, the Democratic Party is going to let China get away with causing a global pandemic. The party has thus far managed more anger for those calling it the “Wuhan virus” than for the Chinese government letting it spread from Wuhan to America. Whether the Trump administration failed or not is irrelevant: China caused this, and China, at least rhetorically, should pay the price.
