Poll: Romney and Santorum in dead heat in Mich.

Mitt Romney has fallen into a “virtual tie” with Rick Santorum in Michigan, despite a strong debate performance in Arizona that initially seemed to give Romney a solid lead over his strongest Republican rival.

“The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters in Michigan, taken Sunday night, finds Romney with 38 percent support to Santorum’s 36 percent,” Rasmussen announced today. Ron Paul is in third, according to the poll, with 11 percent support, followed by Newt Gingrich (10 percent).

At the end of last week, Romney had surged from four points behind Santorum to lead him in Michigan with 40 percent support to Santorum’s 34 percent, according to a previous Rasmussen poll.
