Union anti-Romney website bemoans economy of last three years

The AFL-CIO has put up an anti-Mitt Romney website called Meet Mr. 1%. The site includes pages featuring most of the by-now familiar liberal arguments against the GOP presidential candidate, though no dog-on-the-roof stuff. It also features a 5-minute video making the argument against him. The clips of Romney include snippets of him vowing to take on unions and defending his call to let the auto industry to go bankrupt. The clips are mixed with comments from ordinary people. These are presumably AFL-CIO members (One is shown wearing a United Steel Workers shirt).

A consistent theme of their comments is … how badly they are doing in the current economy. Note for example:

1:44 mark – Woman in USW shirt: “This country needs help. It needs to be rebuilt.”

1:55 mark – Man: “In the last three years I have worked a total of 7 months. So, eventually, I am going to lose my home, umm, and I guess I am going to be on the street.”

2:44 mark – Second woman: “With this upcoming election I see it as everything. It means everything. It means our future for me personally. Will I ever be able to get back to work?

3:05 mark – Second man: “People think the country is going in the wrong direction. The future of our children is looking bleaker all of the time.

3:09 mark – Woman in USW shirt: “No children in this country should be worrying about things that they do today. It is not what this country should be like.”

3:16 mark – Second woman: “It is hard to sell whole ‘get your education to get a better job’ thing when they see me with a good education and I am not getting any job.”

3:23 mark – Third man: “I don’t care if you have an ‘R’ behind your name or a ‘D’ behind your name. You are in office for one reason:  To create jobs, to pass bills that helps the American people.”

This is intended to benefit President Obama? Most of those clips could used in a Republican ad attacking him.  You’d hardly know from watching them that Obama is the incumbent and the one who has been guiding the economy for the last three years.
