Docs show Holder was briefed on Fast & Furious

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was briefed on Operation Fast and Furious as early as July 2010, according to new documents obtained by CBS News, which directly contradicts his sworn testimony before Congressional investigators.

Under the bungled program run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, agents let guns fall into the hands of Mexican drug lords, and several were found at the scene of the murder of a U.S. border agent

In his May testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Holder said, “I’m not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.”

Yet the documents show references to the program dating back to July 2010, or nearly a year earlier.

DOJ is now back peddling on the Holder testimony, telling CBS that, “Holder misunderstood that question from the committee – he did know about Fast and Furious – just not the details.”
