The United States Senate will vote on at least five different budget proposals tomorrow, but none of them are expected to pass even though only a simple majority is needed. The five budgets are:
- President Obama’s budget: Increases taxes by $2 trillion and deficits by $6.8 trillion.
- House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s, R-Wis., Path to Prosperity : Cuts spending by more than $5 trillion and deficits by $3 trillion.
- Sen. Mike Lee’s, R-Utah, Saving the American Dream: Cuts $9.6 trillion in spending, balances the budget by 2017, and creates a flat tax.
- Sen. Pat Toomey’s, R-Pa., Restoring Balance: Simplifies tax code to just three rates and balances budget by 2020.
- Sen. Rand Paul’s, R-Ky., Platform to Revitalize America: Balances in five years without raising taxes.
Senate Democrats are not expected to release a budget of their own.
