Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Obama brews own beer, declares March Irish-American Heritage month

President Barack Obama is wooing the Irish this year, proclaiming March as Irish-American Heritage Month.

From his proclamation:

Seldom in this world has a country so small had so large an impact on another. Today, the rich culture of Ireland touches all aspects of American society, and the friendship that binds Ireland and the United States is marked by a shared past and a common future.

Speaking of cultural impact, the White House announced that it would begin brewing its own beer, positioning the Obamas as the first presidential family to do so in history.

The beer will be called “White House Honey Ale” and lest the taxpayers fret, a spokesman notes that the Obama’s will pay for the brewing equipment with their own funds.
