Like slavery, only voluntary

Arianna Huffington ought to be ashamed of the Huffington Post’s unpaid blogger operation — for ever having given an outlet to someone who would publicly say this:

In my view, the Huffington Post’s bloggers have essentially been turned into modern-day slaves on Arianna Huffington’s plantation

I won’t bother pointing out the differences between slaves and volunteer bloggers. I’ll just note the scary thing is that this suit, arguing “wrongful enrichment” by Arianna, is not too far outside the mainstream of legal thinking these days. After all, Obama’s Department of Labor last summer issued guidelines outlawing many unpaid internships.

This left-wing writer/activist/politician is also the reason you might not be able to find some articles in ProQuest or Nexis.
