RNC uses Dems words against Obama

In conjunction with tonight’s Iowa caucuses, the Republican National Committee released a minute-long web video today contrasting President Obama’s promises from the 2008 campaign, with economic headlines from today. You can find most of those bad news stories in the RNC’s Failed Promise: A Record Of Failed Promise From “The Moment When It All Began” brief here.

But the video also contains some damning quotes from Democrats and media personalities not included in the briefing. In order of appearance they include:

CNBC’s John Harwood: “An atrocious political environment, a very weak economy, a high unemployment rate, relatively low approval numbers…”

Former-President Bill Clinton: “Things are not going in the right direction, they’re going in the wrong direction.”

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif.: “Our people are hurting. We don’t know what the strategy is.”

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: “What is he going to do in his second term? More of this? Is this as good as it gets?”

Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore.: “People are shaking their heads saying, ‘I don’t know if I can vote for him.'”
