Aboard Air Force One, White House Press Secretary was unprepared when a reporter asked him if President Obama would “adjust” Election Day due to Hurricane Sandy.
“Would the President have the power to adjust Election Day?” asked a reporter.
“I don’t know the answer to that question. I think you’re getting way ahead of yourself here,” Carney admitted.
The reporter mentioned that power could be out for 10 days after the storm.
” I just don’t — I think we’ll have to take that question,” Carney said, before moving on to the next question.
UPDATE: Congress, not Obama, has power to change election day
