Quinnipiac University Polling Institute released a poll this morning shoeing the Senate race between former-Gov. Tim Kaine, D, and former-Sen. George Allen, R, is a statistical dead heat with 43 percent of respondents choosing Kaine and 42 percent choosing Allen. Other nuggets from the poll:
- Independent voters favor Allen 46 – 38 percent
- One in 10 Virginia voters remains undecided
- Men favor Allen 47 – 40 percent, while women back Kaine 45 – 37 percent
Quinnipiac’s poll also has some troubling signs for President Obama’s efforts to win the state for a second time:
- His approval rating is even at 48 – 48
- His reelect is split at 47 – 47
- He narrowly beats a generic “Republican candidate 43 – 41
