Congress hits the mute button!

It practically sells itself!

Make some noise! A bill in Congress would force the FCC to regulate the volume of commercials on television, requiring they be no louder than the programs they’re shown on. The measure, HR 1084 is called the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act, introduced by Rep. Anna Eshoo, a California Democrat.

Unsurprisingly, broadcasters do not want more FCC regulation and are scrambling around to make this happen without a bill. But — what took them so long?

So — more nanny government or Congress finally doing something worthwhile with their time?
