Rockin’ n’ Rollin’ with Ron Paul in Tampa

For about a half hour Sunday Ron Paul managed to turn CSPAN into VH1. This happened when the cable network’s cameras turned out for his rally at the University of Florida Sun Dome. Midway through the event’s schedule it broke from it’s usual format of Federal Reserve denunciations, Austrian economics and Socratic dialogues about where libertarians should stand on abortion to feature performances by both Blues Traveler’s John Popper and the Fabulous Thunderbirds’ Jimmie Vaughn.

Both performers have appeared at Republican Party events in the past. Vaughn, in fact, performed at George W. Bush’s 2000 election night party in Texas. This time, though, Popper affirmed that he was a libertarian and dedicated his song “Runaround” to the “mainstream media. ” Guitarist Vaughn played to the audience by performing a song about fighting slavery. The CSPAN cameras stayed on, capturing both performer’s full sets. All that was missing was for the Ron Paul fans to turn on their cell phones and hold them aloft.
