Illinois Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth has declared that she will start voting down President Biden’s nominees until President Biden commits to racial quotas to increase the number of Asian nominees he puts forward. It’s an important reminder that the Democratic Party has been broken by its obsession with race.
Duckworth’s demand comes on the heels of Democrats trying to impose their racial worldview on the Atlanta spa shootings. That included such gems as Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler of New York blaming critics of the Chinese government for the rise in anti-Asian attacks in the United States.
Duckworth said that she will vote no “on the floor on all non-diversity nominees,” which means that, until Biden puts forward an Asian nominee, she will be voting against white men, regardless of their qualifications. That includes Colin Kahl, a particularly toxic nominee to be the undersecretary of Defense for policy who Republicans have already mobilized against.
Duckworth said she has informed the White House she will oppose the nomination of Colin Kahl as the Pentagon’s top policy chief, whose nomination was already hanging by a thread.

Duckworth’s opposition to Kahl is welcome, but it comes from the broken, racist view of quotas and tokenization that has infected the Democratic Party. Biden had already imposed racial quotas on his own Cabinet nominations, which wasn’t enough to stop activists of all races from saying that they were underrepresented.
NPR says that Biden has kept his word in making his Cabinet the “most diverse in U.S. history,” a useless accomplishment for anyone but identity-obsessed Democrats. But even they remain unsatisfied with it, no matter how many times Biden makes his Cabinet decisions based on race and gender, as Duckworth shows.
It is utterly bizarre how commonplace this kind of thinking is in the Democratic Party and how many in establishment media just see it as the norm. Race now takes priority over reality, whether it’s Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris continuing to insist that shooting victim Michael Brown was a victim of racism in Ferguson, Missouri, or the New York Times receiving awards for its 1619 Project despite its central premise being debunked.
The decision by Democrats to place race above all factors in everything they do should not simply be accepted or normalized. It is still racism by its most basic definition, whether it’s being mainstreamed as “equity” or “anti-racism.” It is wholly un-American, pitting citizens against each other based on nothing more than their skin color (or other “identity” status), and it must be pushed back on at all times.
