Violence escalates in Afghanistan

Armed Taliban insurgents killed nine people and injured another dozen at a police training center in Afghanistan’s southern city of Kandahar Thursday.

Violence in the region has increased over the past several weeks with the Taliban beginning its  Spring offensive against NATO and Afghan security forces. Reports said militants used rocket-propelled grenades, along with various other small arms when they stormed the training facility.The Afghan Taliban took responsibility for the attacks.
