Homeland Security protecting Hollywood

President Obama’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) expanded its efforts to protect Hollywood moviemakers from piracy by attaching a logo to the FBI copyright warning on movies.

“Our nation’s film and TV business is critical to our economy,” Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton said in a statement today. “Its creativity and imagination have made American entertainment one of our greatest exports over the decades, but criminals are increasingly engaging in new forms of digital theft. Law enforcement must continue to expand how it combats this criminal activity; public awareness and education are a critical part of that effort.”

To that end, ICE will attach a “Homeland Security Investigations” logo on the existing copyright warning from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, which will appear on some DVDs and Blu-rays released this week.
